Success is counted sweetest
By those who ne'er succeed.
To comprehend a nectar
Requires sorest need.
Not one of all the purple host
Who took the flag to-day
Can tell the definition,
So clear, of victory!
As he, defeated, dying,
On whose forbidden ear
The distant strains of triumph
Burst agonized and clear!
I like this poem that i have written. I do believe that a person who never wins, will always be more grateful for a victory than some one who does. In fact i even wrote this poem after i had finally won a game of chess against my dad : ). I like to think of this poem as slightly serious with the picture i'm trying to paint as some one in a battle who had finally captured their enemy's base after trying so hard and failing. I even tried to use some personification elements in the last 2 lines of my poem
Chris,
ReplyDeleteYou needed to write a more detailed section about her life. Also, you needed to address all of the questions in the rubric in your analysis, which you did not. You have to give examples of the poetic elements, list the theme, and your interpretation of the poem.
